The babies are getting bigger and they are growing in even more feathers. It is amazing how fast they grow! They cheep louder as each day passes too!

If you notice in the video they babies eyes are starting to open up.

The babies are growing a lot!! I can't believe it! They are so loud, it is so cute!

Here is the male bluebird in our tree.

The female isn't sitting on them much anymore, they can regulate their own body heat now.

Today the bluebird babies are starting to get feather sheaths on their wings and their wings are becoming darker. Their eyes are also starting to slit open. They are also beginning to cheep! (you can hear this in the video)

Here is my bluebird watching dog. She likes to sit where I do not want her to sit lol. We're trying not to disturb the parents and babies too much.

Here are the babies today! They are still being incubated by the mother and fed by both parents.

Well the babies seem to be doing well! They are getting fed often by the male and the female parents. The female still sits on them to regulate their temperature. They are getting a little bigger and a little more fuzzy.

Here is the female sitting in the trees while I took some pictures of our cherry blossom tree.

Here is our Yoshino Chery Blossom Tree. It is blooming the most it has ever bloomed this year. We planted it in 2009.

Here is the male with a bug to feed the little ones. Mmmm!

Bluebird Baby #2

This morning we had to get up really early, so I was lucky enough to catch the second baby hatching. Don't get too excited, it hatched under the mother bird so you can't see it actually hatching. I was really hoping to be able to see it though. You can see the mama pulling the egg pieces out of the nest and eating the egg shell for some extra calcium. She also tossed some out of the box I noticed when I went out there.

Here are some pics I took from outside the box. The don't make any sounds yet.

We have a baby!!!

What a surprise to wake up to!! Yesterday there were 2 cute little blue eggs, and today there is a naked little bluebird! He/she has a halo of feathers around it's head and looks quite funny! The baby's eyes are still closed and will remain closed until day 5 to 8. It has coral pink skin and little gray fuzz feathers. The baby's neck is so skinny and it is amazing that it can pick it's own head up!

I missed hatching this morning so I don't know if the egg hatches under the mother bird or if you can see it happen. I had my tape set on the wrong speed so it didn't record as long as I would have liked. I will make sure to try and catch the second egg hatching!
