Installing the Bird Cam

Well, I decided to get a bird cam to put in my bluebird box. Thanks to my Mom & Dad for paying for half of it! They also helped me set it up. This is the camera I got from our local bird store.

Below is a stock photo from a website but this is what it looks like out of the box. You get 100ft of cable with the camera. The lens focuses so you can adjust it to see the eggs/babies. It is pretty clear for a tiny video camera. There is sound so you can hear the bird chirping or coming in and out of the box. There is some noise that is always present when the camera is on, but I don't think it is too bad. There are 6 infrared LED's and the camera does film in color if there is enough light. You can see inside the box very well day or night. I have noticed that usually if it is sunny the top parts of the nest are in color but there isn't usually enough light to make the eggs be in color. Again, this does not bother me, I think seeing inside a bluebird box is incredibly cool!

There were no eggs inside the box so we were able to pop the lid off and attach the bird cam. We wired it under the house and up through the floor into the living room. We buried the cable in the ground inside some PVC pipe. We were able to finish in one afternoon/evening.
This is the inside of the box, great looking nest!

Again special thanks to my Parents for helping me get bird cam running quickly and Hubby for helping after he got home from work.
